What You Need to Know About E-Cigarette Atomizers
Atomizers are an indispensable part of electronic cigarettes. This is the principal mechanism that converts e-juice into vapor. There are many types of atomizers on the market today. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
Atomizers can come as a standalone unit or fused with a tank. When it is fused with a tank, it is called a cartomizer. People who are new to vaping are usually advised to opt for a vaping kit with a cartomizer. This eliminates the need for them to change the coil or wick of the atomizer. There are also disposable atomizers which are built separately from the tank.
For experienced vapers, however, using a rebuildable atomizer that allows you to drip is the best way to vape. This method is said to heighten the flavor of the e-juice and enables you to get more clouds per hit.
There are different types of atomizers on the market today. The main parts of an atomizer are; a coil, wick, and a circuit. The coil and wick are replaceable in rebuildable atomizers.
There are various vape coils to choose from depending on the setup of the rebuildable atomizer you are working with. E-cigarettes can work with a single or dual coil design. As stated earlier, the main function of the coil in an e-cig is to vaporize the e-juice using energy from the circuit in the system. Consequently, a vape using a single coil atomizer would perform differently from one with a dual coil.
Another important aspect of an atomizer to learn about is the wick. This is a material that conducts the e-juice to the coil before it is vaporized. Different materials can be used as a wick including cotton, hemp fiber, stainless steel mesh, and silica. There are two main atomizer wick designs; the genesis rebuildable atomizer and rebuildable dripping atomizer.
In genesis rebuildable atomizers, a part of the wick is connected to the coil. When e-juice is drawn up to this area, vaping takes place. For rebuildable dripping atomizers, on the other hand, the user has to put drops of the e-juice on the wick before taking some hits.
The main disadvantage of rebuildable dripping atomizers is that you need to add e-juice to the wick periodically. Despite this drawback, most vaping experts prefer to use rebuildable dripping atomizers because it allows them to enjoy a richer e-juice flavor and also gives them the freedom to use or even mix different flavors on the same vaping unit.
There is also a hybrid rebuildable atomizer that has the features of both genesis rebuildable atomizers and dripping atomizers. However, it is not as popular as the others and is more expensive.
Since we’re discussing atomizers, it is fitting to talk briefly about ‘atomizer resistance.’ This term is used to describe how much electrical resistance an atomizer has. The resistance of an atomizer, which is measured in ohms, has a significant impact on your vaping experience. If you use an atomizer with a low resistance of 2.2 ohms or below, the unit is likely to heat up quickly and produce lots of vapor which may have a high temperature. If you use a low resistance atomizer improperly, you are likely to end up with a burnt taste in your mouth after vaping. The solution to this is not to choose an atomizer with high resistance as you will need more power to produce a lot of vapor. Instead, settle for an atomizer with standard electrical resistance. The standard electrical resistance of a vape atomizer is between 2.2 to 4.2 ohms.
Remember to read electronic cigarette reviews by other customers to find out how the performance of each atomizer on sale is rated before you decide on which one to buy.
