The Smok Alien 220W Box Mod Review
The Smok Alien 220W Box Mod Review
Smok’s newest flagship box mod has many unique features that make it stand out from the rest of its competitors. Their new high-power mod which has a maximum output of 220W, is rightly called The Alien 220W Mod. The design, features and performance are just superb. It was just recently named as one of the Top 200W mods on Cig Buyer.com.
The Smok Alien is the latest addition to a long series of top quality vaping products from the Asian company Smok. The corporation continues to put out fresh and innovative units, without compromising on quality. The Alien offers a maximum output of 220W. It is remarkably compact; measuring 30mm in thickness, 44mm in length, and just 85mm tall. Design-wise, Smok got its inspiration from other popular mods, such as the P4UiPV 6/6 and the Siegelei 213.
Smok has been employing a firing bar on its mods as a substitute for the basic power button. This was released on the X-Cube 2, and has since become Smok’s standard design. Although, simply locking the device should suffice, sometimes we do indeed tend to forget. The firing bar on the Smok Alien 220W requires steady firm pressure to activate it, so the odds of firing the device by mistake are actually quite low. It might take a bit to get used to it, but it for sure does fix the accidental firing issue.
Another distinct feature of the Alien 220W Box Mod is its Iarge OLED screen that displays much useful information. There’s the the wattage or temperature setting, the selective Smok vaping effect (Soft, Normal,or Hard), the charge level of each of the 18650 batteries, real-time voltage, the resistance of the atomizer, amperage, the temperature of the internal motherboard of the device, a puff counter, and even a puff timer. As you become accustomed to the placement of each field on the display, you’ll begin to recognize and appreciate the availability of all this info with just the press of a button.
Right beneath the clear and large display, you have a micro-USB to be used for firmware upgrades. Take note however, that the USB port cannot be used for charging, so you should consider getting an external battery charger

I’ve been using my Smok Alien for just about five weeks now, and so far I haven’t encountered any issues. That long firing delay that used to plague Smok vaporizers is no more. It performs great in wattage mode and appears to be extremely accurate, the same as other recently release Smok mods.
Does it actually go all the way up to 220W? Well, you can indeed scroll all the way up to 220 watts using the adjustable buttons, but I actually couldn’t tell you from experience. I have never raised the bar over 90 watts my entire life. I myself just have never needed that much power.
The firing bar is stringent yet very functional, along with the two adjustment buttons. I actually checked-out the short-circuit protection to check if it did indeed work, and I got a warning message on the display the moment I squeezed the firing bar. The reverse battery protection works properly also, as I did my usual ‘try it and see’thing. There are other safety features such as – weak battery protection, high battery voltage protection, low atomizer resistance protection, high atomizer resistance protection, system overheating protection, and low e-liquid protection in the temperature control mode.
The Smok Alien kit is truly a solid mod. The Alien 220W mod is probably the most compact unit in the dual-18650 mod category, and the aesthetic look of the Alien 220W is absolutely outstanding in my opinion. If you want to upgrade, I definitely recommend buying the Smok Alien 220W .
