Kangertech ProTank 3 – The Ultimate Clearomiser!
The Kangertech ProTank 3 is shiny, bottom dual coil and made by one of the most respected atomizer manufacturers – these facts alone will guarantee that it will have instant appeal to the serious vaper.
I personally believe that the ProTank 3 will ultimately prove to be much more than just being the current must have vapers tool – It is a very practical and efficient device which could easily become the de-facto standard for every e-cig user that moves beyond the very popular e-cig starter kit.
Kangertech ProTank 3
The Kangertech ProTank 3 is the third iteration of the ProTank claro misers. Kangertech ProTanks have earned an enviable reputation for being very well constructed from durable materials – setting it apart from the cheaper, mostly plastic counterparts.
The ProTank 3 has four main body parts;
- The knurled metal base into which the atomizer head screws.
- A bottom polished metal collar which holds the tank and screws onto the central post.
- The clear Pyrex glass tank which beds onto a seal ring at either end.
- A polished metal top that incorporates the central column and thus attaches to the bottom collar.
ProTank 3 Drip Tip
In addition to the main body parts detailed above the Kangertech ProTank 3 kit, (the specific subject of this review) comes with a weighty Stainless Steel, standard 510 fitting, drip tip. Often the drip tip supplied with an atomizer is of poor quality in comparison to the rest of the unit but in the case of the ProTank 3, this is not so.
The drip tip is friction held with the assistance of an ‘O’ ring and can be easily replaced with the user’s favorite 510 style drip tip, however, I suspect that the one supplied with the ProTank 3 will be retained as the drip tip of choice because of its quality and style.
ProTank 3 Plinth
eGo ProTank 3 kit is also supplied with a plinth. The diameter of the ProTank 3 is larger than that of a standard eGo battery and is arguably more aesthetically suited to battery mods like the mighty Tesla – the supplied plinth is designed to overcome this limitation by fitting over the eGo threading of a standard eGo battery and smooth out the transition between diameters.
The inclusion of an eGo fitting plinth in Kangertech ProTank 3 kit indicates that the intended market for the ProTank 3 goes beyond the hobbyist by extending its appeal to the everyday vaper also.
ProTank 3 Atomiser Heads
At the heart of any clear mixers, a function is the efficiency of the atomizer head – producing vapor and carrying flavor – bottom coil atomizers are now very much in vogue because of their inherently-hit-free design, Kangertech is past masters of the bottom coil clearomizer configuration.
More recently the bottom coil design has been further enhanced with the introduction of the Bottom Dual Coil (BDC) – A BDC atomizer has the advantages offered by both bottom coil atomizer heads and the roundness of flavor and the billowing vapor delivered by two coils working together as one. The recently introduced Aspire BDC clearomizer has achieved great popularity because of its bottom dual coil atomizer head – having used both the Aspire BDC and the bottom dual coil atomizer head employed in the Kangertech ProTank 3 it seems clear that they are both excellent and share a position at the pinnacle of atomizer design.

Long Life and Available Spares
Typically clearomizers with replaceable atomizer heads are kept in use for two to four head changes before everyday wear and tear takes its toll and leads to the unit being discarded. The ProTank 3 is different, its metal and Pyrex glass construction are designed not only to look great but also to last well beyond the functional life of the average clearomizer.
As you would expect the bottom dual coil atomizer head is easily replaceable – and replacement Kangertech ProTank 3 atomizer heads are sold at a comparable price to those fitted to cheaper plastic clearomizers.
The only part of the ProTank that is potentially vulnerable to breakage is the Pyrex Glass tank should it be dropped or fall awkwardly, thankfully replacement ProTank 3 glass tanks are available too. The replacement glass tubes can be purchased in clear gray, blue, purple or the original colorless glass. At the time of writing the replacement, glass is available at under $3.50 which seems very reasonable.
Should you be unfortunate to lose the drip tip then a replacement of the same is again priced at under $3.50.
Kangertech ProTank 3 kit comes in a nice quality cardboard slide-out box which is clearly branded and includes instructions printed on the back. The metal bottom collar is etched with both the Kangertech ProTank and motifs and to further assure you that it is a genuine product the box has a scratch panel number that can be checked online for confirmation of its authenticity.
ProTank 3 Conclusion
At just under $20.00 the Kangertech ProTank 3 kit costs about three or four times that of an average clearomizer but with its superb build quality, it is likely to last many more times longer than that. Given that the price of the replacement atomizer heads is similar to that of an average clearomizer it could actually save you money in the medium/long term by investing in one, in addition to the pleasure that can be derived from a well-made and desirable product which delivers a superb vaping experience.
