Iolite Vaporizer Review
Pros: Very lightweight, only weighs a pound. Sturdy and solid. Comes in a wide variety of colors. No cords, no power adapters. Doesn’t use any batteries. Smokeless operation. Fast heating times.
Cons: Temperature cannot be controlled. Needs to be refilled by butane in order for it to work. Can only be used with dry blends. Needs 3 to 5 heating cycles before it can produce vapor.
Is the Iolite Portable Vaporizer Worth It?
There are many portable vaporizers in the market, but only a handful of them offer portability while maintaining vapor quality. The iolite vaporizer might just be the one you’re looking for. With its small size and seemingly discreet look, it’s surely one vape that vape starters would want to check out. It’s a plus that the iolite doesn’t need batteries to run, making it a nice alternative for those who do not like charging their vapes.
The Iolite Portable Vaporizer’s Many Colors
One of the most noticeable things about this vaporizer, aside from its portability and size, is that it is available in many colors, such as white, black, pink, blue, green, orange, yellow, turquoise and purple. Because of this, the iolite is popular among many vapers – women included. But it doesn’t sacrifice taste and quality just because of its eye-candy colors and small, lightweight design.
Size and Power
The original iolite portable vaporizer only weighs one pound, so you don’t have to mind too much when you drop iolite it on the ground. The small, yet sturdy vaporizer measures around 2.2″ inches wide, 4.2″ inches long, and an inch thick.
Unlike other portable vaporizers, this one does not need any batteries. It uses a butane power source, so there is no need for power cords or batteries to be charged. The butane gas that is used with the iolite is the same one used in common lighters, so refilling it doesn’t need to be hard. A good 5 to 10 seconds of filling it up with butane, and it is ready to be used.
Features and Options
Unlike the NO2 or the Solo, the iolite does not allow users to choose their desired temperatures. It also does not have any preset temperatures, like the Pax, but it still offers a desirable temperature for dry blends, at around 190C +/- 5C.
Switching the butane gas on and pressing the starter button will ignite the vaporizer. Think of it as an automatic start button when turning on a motorcycle. The iolite is hot enough once the light glows orange. You can start to draw in the vapor when the orange light goes on. However, other users tend to wait for around 3 heating cycles to fully feel the flavor of the herbs.
The heating chamber of the iolite is made out of stainless steel, making sure that it’s easily heated up and can last for a lifetime of use. To access the loading chamber, simply lift up the mouthpiece on the shell, and you can pack your dry blends inside. The DaVinci allows aromatherapy oils to be loaded into the unit, but the iolite can only be used with dry blends and herbs.
Manufacturing Build and Quality
While everything else is made in China (except for the Magic Flight Launch Box, which is made in the USA), the iolite original vaporizer is made in Ireland. The compact body can withstand snapping or breaking way better than pen-style vaporizers, or other e-cigarettes.
Although it is made of plastic, the iolite is quite strong and can withstand drops and bumps. Because of its lightweight construction, users don’t have to worry about splitting it in half. The design itself is very sturdy, so don’t mind about it being snapped in half when putting inside your pocket.
Cleaning and Maintaining the Iolite Original Portable Vaporizer
Other vaporizers need special cleaning tools or solutions, like the Pax. However, the Iolite just needs the heating chamber to be cleaned. The mouthpiece can also be removed to be cleaned thoroughly. The insides can be cleaned with the bundled pipe cleaners, as well. Maintaining it would mean regularly refilling the butane chamber to ensure hours of continued use.
Iolite Portable Vaporizer Warranty
This vaporizer comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty, but only restricted to normal use.
